Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet. Back in 1665, Isaac Newton divided the rainbow into these 7 colours. In reality, rainbows are a vast spectrum of chromatic hues. The average human eye can distinguish around 100 in a rainbow, so it’s no surprise that there is a kaleidoscope of words to describe every colour under the sun.
